When it was first announced that director Siddharth Anand would make a film based on 2 States, the lead role was slated to be played by Saif Ali Khan and the music to be composed by Vishal Shekhar. Due to creative differences over script between Siddharth and Saif, the project was called off.
Producers of this north meets south love story; Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala finally confirmed and confesed that Arjun Kapoor & Alia Bhatt will be playing the lead with the music helmed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

The second song, Locha-E-Ulfat, sung by Benny Dayal, released on 13 March 2014.

A youthful and peppy number with quirky lyrics which makes it worth listening to! As usual Aditi does a fantastic job but it’s Bhattacharya who surprises us as we are more used to hearing him in romantic ballads. It is one of those numbers which will lift your spirits instantly.

A duet rendered & infused with a beautiful sufi feel to this romantic number. The shehnai makes difference to this otherwise mushy duet. While it does sound quite similar to Rahet hits from the past, Arijit’s passion makes the difference in this one.

A techno bhangra number with peppy music and fun Hinglish lyrics. This loud number, leaves very little impact and gets reduced to an average romedy regular.

A beautiful guitar infused track perfect for long drives. The number will need a lot of replays and romantism for lovey-dovey songs. No surprises if this soothing composition remain in your playlists for a while.

A Shaadiwala number that brings in father son duo Shankar Mahadevan & Siddharth Mahadevan together. This one is a full on Punjabi number complete with dhol and Punjabi lyrics. This isn’t one of the best numbers from Shankar Ehasaan Loy and is a disappointment.
The trio has had a low note past two years with less enthralling reception, poor reviews, extremely negative reception & failures.
Exception only in the Zoya Akhtar multistarrer Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. “2 States” definitely is a relief for the trio hitting the right chords with a refreshing album!
